Online Classes

Study astrology in these interactive classes – no matter where you live!

Foundation Level  (Modules 1, 2, 3)
NEW Interpretation Practice Workshop - Foundation Level

Diploma Level I (Modules 4, 5, 6)
NEW Interpretation Practice Workshop - Intermediate Level

Studying with us via our online classes allows you to connect in real time to experienced Faculty tutors and to a small group of fellow students, whilst still giving you the freedom to study from home. The online classroom is a great way to connect, learn the art of astrology, and make friends with other students from around the world!

This new online platform is offered alongside our Distance Learning via Email and London Classes, offering you even more flexibility and choice in your studies with us.

In addition to the weekly online classes, you will have access to extensive written course material which accompanies and supports each module. This material can be downloaded from our private online site.

The course tutors will give instructions each week for reading from this course material, along with small amounts of home study to do in preparation for the following week’s class. You should allow about 2 hours per week to complete this, in your own time. Engaging with the course material is also a useful way of consolidating your learning and perfect for catching up if you have to miss a class.

On enrolment, you will also be supplied with a recommended reading list, with ideas for books to buy and online resources to access. There is only one compulsory text for you to buy at Foundation Level (a small and inexpensive publication called Raphael’s Year Ephemeris), but you may also wish to supplement your learning with a little additional reading each week, if you have time.

Throughout the course you will be fully supported by the tutors and encouraged to gradually develop your astrological understanding.

For an overview of the Faculty’s courses and a list of course fees, see our Courses Overview page.

Joining an Online Class

The online classes schedule is given below, with links for enrolment conveniently under the set dates.

Students enrolled in Module 1 will be given priority booking status for Modules 2 and 3 in order to maintain continuity of study. Another option to secure your place for Modules 2 and 3 is to purchase the Complete Online Foundation Course when enrolling – a savings of £60 over the three terms. You'll see that option when you click to book Module 1.

Likewise, students who enrol on Module 4 will be given priority booking status for Modules 5 and 6, in order to maintain continuity of study.

Prior to joining the online classes for the first time, you are expected to attend the Induction Session. Here you will meet your course tutors and fellow students and learn how to participate using the online platform. If you have taken online classes with us already and are joining us this year for the Diploma, it is helpful for you to attend the Induction Session to meet your tutors and fellow students.

Please make sure you access the online classroom about 15 minutes before the start time, as each session will begin promptly.

A Note About Class Times

Class times are in Local Time – either Zone Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time, whichever is in operation. The start time of your class may therefore shift by one hour if the switch from GMT or Pacific Standard Time does not coincide with your region’s change from Standard Time to Daylight Time.

If you have any queries about this, contact the Online Classes Manager (see below) or check with your tutors.

Technical specifications

The Faculty of Astrological Studies uses Zoom as the platform for online classes. You can join the class using a PC, Mac or tablet.

You will need the following:

  • Good internet access
  • Webcam
  • A built-in microphone or external head-set

When you first enrol, you will be sent an email confirming your enrolment and containing instructions for connecting to and navigating the online classroom. Before each session, you will be sent a link by email which allows you to enter that particular session. For full technical information, read Online Classes: Guide and Instructions.

Prior to enrolment, please read the Conditions of Enrolment for Online Classes.

Please note these two important factors, which are outlined in the Conditions of Enrolment:

  • In order to gain credits towards the Certificate or Diploma, there is an attendance requirement. A student must attend a minimum of 75% of all sessions in the module. Being late for a session or having to leave early counts as missing one-half of the session.
  • Unlike Online Seminars which are recorded, Online Classes are not recorded. One reason is that students' charts are often discussed in the classes, and we respect that knowledge of chart details and personal anecdotes should not extend beyond the class members.

The codes FC1, FC2, FC3, etc. are for internal use to help identify different sessions of the Foundation Course which are running concurrently.
Enrolling on FC3, for example, does NOT require a student to have attended FC1 and FC2.

Astronomer.moonThe aim of this series of three interactive workshops is to increase participant experience of, and confidence in, whole chart analysis.

We will use two mystery charts over the three weeks to practice interpretation skills, from the first sight of the chart, through the analysis and synthesis of the chart factors to the identification of chart themes. This process involves analysing the chart factors and listening to our intuition.

In addition, we will consider how to present our findings to a client in ways that are clear, non-judgemental and empowering for them. Participants will be asked to do some pre-work on the mystery charts so the sessions can be as interactive as possible. Come with your questions and an open mind.

Suitable for students who have completed Modules 1, 2 and 3. Students enrolling on this workshop should be familiar with the Faculty's psychological approach.

Tuition fee: £100 for the series

A huge amount of information is generated when we analyse a natal chart and then prepare a forecast for a year using transits, solar returns, progressions and directions. This is the basis of an astrological consultation of course but initially the sheer amount of information generated can be daunting.

The aim of this series of three interactive workshops is to support the participants in gaining greater assurance in their astrological skills.

We will use two mystery charts to practice identifying the main themes of the natal chart, a vital part of the consultation and the basis of creating a forecast. Then, we will consider how to prioritise the forecasting factors and importantly, how we might discuss our interpretations with a client.

Participants will be asked to do some pre-work on the mystery charts so the sessions can be as interactive and creative as possible.

Suitable for students who have completed Modules 4, 5 and 6. Students enrolling on this workshop should be familiar with the Faculty's psychological approach.

Tuition fee: £110 for the series
